This Far by Faith Journey to Racial Equity, part of Spirit & Place Festival

Monday, November 4, 2019, 7:00 PM

THIS FAR BY FAITH: A JOURNEY TOWARD RACIAL EQUITY Four faith communities invite congregants and the wider community to examine how they are progressing when it comes to matters of racial justice. Participants will be invited to share ways to advance in this racial justice work.  St. Luke’s UMC Racial Justice Committee spearheaded a journey that lead congregants to Montgomery and Selma, Alabama to visit the Legacy Museum, the National Peace and Justice Memorial (Lynching Memorial), and the Edmund Pettus Bridge this past spring. This emotional adventure sparked a desire to collaborate on a larger scale with the Indianapolis community. St. Luke’s UMC is joining forces with All Souls Unitarian Church, Witherspoon Presbyterian Church, and the Bahá’í Community of Indianapolis. This partnership has been created to specifically examine racial equity. The ultimate goal is to motivate faith communities in the Indianapolis area toward truth, acknowledgment, and reconciliation. Small group conversations and activities will follow the panel discussion.  Ample free parking in the church parking lot. Please use side entrance/door #6. Walk-ins welcome. RSVPs encouraged by November 3, 2019. Presented by: St. Luke’s UMC Racial Justice Committee, All Souls Unitarian Church, Witherspoon Presbyterian Church, and Bahá'í Community of Indianapolis.
