Learn to Knit (Two-Part Class)

Thursday, October 24, 2019, 1:30 AM

Do you know the difference between knitting needles and chopsticks? Do you think a ball of yarn is just a cat toy? Then this is the class for you! This is a class for beginners. There will be two meetings so you can learn the basics with time to practice. Please sign up for both classes. In the first class, you will learn the very basics of knitting: casting on (getting the yarn onto the needle), and the basic knit stitch. In the second class, you will review the previous class and you will learn how to bind it off (finish) when you are done. During this class, you will also learn about needles, different yarns and how to read the labels, and where to go for help online. Knitting can be a very relaxing and useful activity. Let's have some fun! All supplies will be provided. Bring a sense of humor and a willingness to learn.     Teresa is a retiree whose interests include family, travel, hand crafts, and chasing shiny objects. Other than a few short breaks, Teresa has been a long-time resident of Zip Code 46219 (East Side!) where she lives with five cats who appeared in a box of clean blankets under her computer table when the pregnant neighborhood stray came in for a visit. (Mother and kids are all spayed and neutered.) She is a lifelong learner, so Barter School is one of her favorite places.     Barter Items: Cat toys or treat; canning jars, any size; a favorite recipe; yarn (can be left overs); reusable grocery bags
