Movies by Moonlight: Hocus Pocus Head to the Hard Truth Hills Back 40 for a magical night with the Sanderson Sisters! Under cover of our autumn event tent, we’ll be screening the 1993 Disney Halloween favorite, Hocus Pocus, on Friday, Oct. 18. We’ll kick things off at 6:30 p.m. with some pre-screening family fun that includes a super-spooky witch costume competition and flying broomstick obstacle course led by the magic-education experts at Hard Truth Hills! Once the sun sets (around 7 p.m.), we’ll start the movie! Guests are welcome to bring chairs and picnic blankets. No coolers will be permitted — food and drinks will be available for purchase on site. All children 17 and younger must be accompanied by an adult. Tickets are $10 for adults and $7.50 for children 17 and younger. We are also offering a family ticket that is $35 and includes admission for up to five members of a household. Our Saturday night double feature kicks off with the Sixteenth Annual Gadabout Film Fest, an experience packed with narratives, animations, documentaries, and experimental shorts ranging from extremely funny or silly to smart and thought-provoking. Between films, we’ll have a special guest (and special drinks) to get us in the mood for The Big Lebowski! Don’t miss our pre-screening talk about all things Lebowski, featuring the Dude’s favorite cocktails and Indiana University professor and certified Lebowski-ologist Ed Commentale. It is bound to be an event that ties the whole evening together. Then, we’ll round out our evening with the Dude, Walter, and all of our SoCal character friends in the Coen Brothers film that truly abides. Tickets are $20. Attendees must be 18 or older. On Saturday night, there will be a 20-minute intermission between films. All tickets include admission to our pre-show activities and films, along with a bag of popcorn upon entry. Saturday, attendees must be 18 or older. Reduced youth tickets, for ages 17 and younger, are available for Hocus Pocus. Also, we are offering a family ticket for Hocus Pocus for up to five members of a household. All attendees 17 and younger must be accompanied by an adult. Some films may not be suitable for younger audiences. Student, senior, and military discounts are available on adult tickets only. Enter code HTHMovies19 at check out. Attendees with discounted tickets must present valid I.D.s relevant to the chosen discount. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Seating is first come, first served. Attendees are invited to bring lawn chairs and blankets to sit on. Multi-night guests will be permitted to leave seating in the event space at their own risk. Hard Truth Hills and its affiliates are not responsible for loss, theft, or damage of items left in the festival area. No coolers will be permitted in the film viewing area. Food and drinks will be available for purchase on site. Guests who plan to purchase alcohol must have an I.D. with them. Costumes are welcome. This is a rain or shine event with a tent-covered seating area. Be sure to dress appropriately for the weather.
