HELLO NEIGHBOR! | Crown Hill
Directly north of downtown Indy, the Crown Hill neighborhood is home to the world’s biggest and best children’s museum, the highest hill in our city (842.2 feet above sea level, to be exact) and the final resting place of some of our most famous and infamous residents, including John Dillinger, President Benjamin Harrison and poet James Whitcomb Riley. In the second of our three-part summer series, Hello Neighbor! presented by MIBOR Realtor Association will explore Crown Hill Cemetery, venturing through 555 acres of Indy’s past and present. David Rieck, the President of Crown Hill Cemetery and Crown Hill Heritage Foundation, will be our guide as he shares some fun facts (and secrets) while we explore this incredible sanctuary that is noted on the National Register of Historic Places. You’ll also hear from partners and surrounding community members who are helping to craft their neighborhood’s future. So, while we’re pretty confident you’ve recently sped past Crown Hill Cemetery in your car, we want you to join us as we head inside the gates, Tuesday, August 27, and explore the grounds on foot and by bike! We can promise this won’t be your typical neighborhood tour. Details: Whether you’re bringing your own bike or borrowing a Pacers Bikeshare, meet us in front of Hoagies & Hops at 42nd & Boulevard in the Butler-Tarkington neighborhood, and we’ll group-ride to the cemetery to begin the tour. Be sure to wear your best active gear, and plan to stay after the tour to grab a beer with new friends! Bonus: If you’re as jazzed as we are about this Hello Neighbor! presented by MIBOR Realtor Association, be sure to check out our No Mean City story about Crown Hill for a teaser.
