Soledad Obrien is a household name in many homes throughout America. Starting in 2003 as a CNN Anchor, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority member, Soledad has created numerous documentaries on issues that have an impact on the Black and Hispanic communities. Recently, she created The Next Big Story: My Journey Through the Land of Possibilities, a critically acclaimed memoir regarding her obstacles stemming from her background and upbringing. She has received numerous awards from both the African American and Hispanic journalism associates. Her in-depth coverage of both the tsunami aftermath in Japan and life after Hurricane Katrina earned her the 2007 Humanitarian and a Journalistic Excellence Award from the NAACP.
