Mary Barra, president and CEO of General Motors, is the first woman to lead a major global automaker. She began at GM at 18 as a co-op student and subsequently held a variety of engineering and administrative positions. She has been listed as one of the world's most powerful women by Forbes and Fortune. Barra is focused on fulfilling consumer transportation demands and utilizing rapid advances in technology. GM recently partnered with ride-sharing company Lyft with the goal of creating a network of self-driving taxis.
